Gridskipper said: "Located in Kreuzberg, this secondhand bookshop carries a hefty amount of select titles. As the name suggests, one is likely to find some out-of-print treasure for a reasonable price. Books range from classic literature to the latest bestsellers, including a large number of German-language titles. The atmosphere of this teacher-run establishment is both warm and pleasant, and the owners will leave you alone until you ask for assistance. If you prefer a little conversation, they'll pour you a cup of tea and chatter away."
The owners are proud of the wide selection of books they offer, and thanks to their strict selection procedure when it comes to the books they sell in their store, they can claim that: ”There is no junk in our shop.” Regarding the prices, Fair Exchange tries to keep them down to half the price of a new book at most, but most of the titles are even cheaper. Their stock of about 20 000 books is mainly focused on fiction – everything from classics to contemporary authors and new releases. The non-fiction section is divided into several categories such as psychology, history, science, art, philosophy, biographies, film etc. Most of the books are in English and German, but they also sell books in French and Spanish. The cozy, laid back atmosphere of this place make it very popular among the locals.

Established in 1984 by two English teachers, Paula from New York and Susan from Boston, who started the store with only five books in their window. More than 20 years have passed and Fair Exchange has developed into one of the best spots to search for second hand English books in Berlin.
